Looking for ideas on where to go for a walk? Cardiff and its surroundings are blessed with a wide variety of opportunities for rambling. If you prefer to walk without following a group, we have written up a number of suggested routes in the area. The photos on this page show some of the scenery in our area, just waiting for your visit, all taken within 8 miles of the city centre. |

Capital Walks is the name we gave to two books of local routes, produced around the year 2000. Now out of print, and the routes are getting old - so be prepared for changes. Plots of these routes of these are available. Walk leaflets: Ten of our favourite walks in the Cardiff area were printed as leaflets. These were created more recently, and are available as PDF file downloads. They include a variety of walks ranging from the lively urban Cardiff Bay to the wilder and more peaceful ridges to the north of the city. Our walks: There is also a large selection of GPX files which are recordings of routes that we have rambled in the past. These record the variety of places that we have explored, mainly a little further from home, in the Valleys, Beacons, Vale of Glamorgan, Wye Valley etc. If our own routes are not enough, try the numerous external sites on the Links page. |
